Done and done

So with the summer's goal of riding the Triple Bypass strong behind me, I am free to do whatever I want on the weekends. They will still be filled with bike rides and such but a lot less hard core. Maybe.

Thanks to everyone who has donated money to the bike teams I have been on, the two teams are really about helping children live better lives.

I am off to Austria. My legs are really sore and my bags are now packed all I gotta do is find my passport. See you all when I get back from the other side of the pond.

Ok.
I know I am one-dimensional. I know.
I know my past 8 posts have been about riding my bike. I know.
But seriously.. that is all I do. And I did it again this weekend.

This weekend I rode on Team Halliburton doing the MS 150 ride to Ft. Collins and back. It is a ride that is 100 miles each day if you don't get lost. But if you do get lost like me it is about a 111.48 mile ride the first day. Team Halliburton is great, they provided root beer floats at the finish line for their riders. YOY. That is super duper great.

Did I tell you I am going to Austria? I am. I am meeting the dude's parents. and brothers. Hopefully the last 5 months of learning German will pay off. I need to look for my passport.

National Parks.

okkkk..

NPR tip of the day:
When entering a national park which is paved by the state highway you don't have to pay the $4 if you are only going to be on the road and not use any of the facilities.

So.. with my waterbottles filled and pockets stuffed with bike stuff I decided I was going to ride my bike from Idaho Springs to the top of Mt. Evans. Mt. Evans at 14, 300 ft is the highest paved road in North America and is quite the 'hill'. So after about 4 hours of riding to the top of the mountain, one (me) would like to sit, have a granola bar and drink some water, naturally. After sitting for about one minute on a ROCK, being mindful not to use any facilities (because I opted not to pay the $4) here comes Mr. State Trooper asking for my parks pass. I gently tell him I didn't buy one because I wasn't going to use any of the facilities, and he says "that rock you are sitting on is part of the facility, I am going to have to write you a ticket". I GOT A TICKET FOR SITTING ON A ROCK!
dude. for the love.

Did I mention that my dude is in town?! He is. Life is Great.

We went to the Cirque Du Soleil last night.. it is so breathtaking. What a great show. I cannot believe how flexible and athletic some of those performers are. Inc-red-ible.
Seriously.

The rode of life.

Turns out... I have alot of non-commital tendencies.
Except I cannot commit to that comment.
Is there a support group for this? Do I have to commit to join?

I hate when realization smacks you in the face.

On a brighter note.. I am back to bike riding.
Even though I rode in the Republic of Boulder, 65 miles never felt so good.

Rest and Relaxation

Welp.. after being home from work for the past couple of days, there was really nothing else better to do then to get a pedicure. Because it was Sonya's first experience for the pedicure, she celebrated by getting a flower painted on her nail.
It has been a good couple of days of rest and recovery. I have spent some good time sleeping, watching movies, picking up in my house, and hanging out with Sonya. All things that get bypassed because of work and bikes.

God is good. All the time.

Summertime fun.

This weekend was the big cycling event that I have been managing. THE WINDMILL CLASSIC. You have all seen the photos of the team, generously donated and sent the team well wishes. I thank you for that. I do.
Almost everyone on the team had a great ride. Kristy and Tim who orignially set out to do 40 miles ended up doing 65 (yahhoo!) Andrea, Neil, and Kristen completed their first century (double yahoo!) Glaze, Lauper, Mike, Ryan and Russell completed their century strong, Chrystal and Robbie did 65 miles in a great time, and all of the voluneteers Ryk, Linda, Mike and the 2 Super heros of the day Leanna and Lane did their duty above and beyond the call.

Sonya and I had a different sort of ride. One to the hospital. It is always all fun and games untill you fall off your bike going 21 miles an hour. While riding along the course at mile marker 47 I hooked Sonya's wheel and took a hard fall. I escaped with road rash down my left leg and arm and 12 stitches. Sonya, on a different fall was not as lucky, she has a broken coller bone, whiplash, and a scraped up shoulder. Not cool.

We should be back on our bikes in 3-6 weeks. Any suggestions on what to do until then? What else does one do besides ride their bike?
